CITY OF MEDINA

PROPERTY MAINTENANCE/ BUILDING INSPECTOR

 
Medina Civil Service Commission is accepting applications BY RESUME ONLY starting May 18, 2011 for a proposed Part-time, Property Maintenance/ Building Inspector. Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Will perform inspections of residential and commercial properties for code compliance with City adopted property maintenance and housing codes. Will coordinate enforcement activities and represent the city in court hearings regarding housing and property maintenance issues. Must have considerable knowledge of ICC International Property Maintenance Code and building, mechanical and electrical practices.  Need to be Ohio Board of Building Standards certified in Building and Electrical inspection. Must be able to detect structural, electrical, mechanical, and code violations and be able to make recommendations for correction. Need to be s able to read and interpret plans & blueprints and exercise good judgment at all times. Computer skills are preferred. Starting wage will be $20.99 per hour.

BUILDING ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
 
Medina Civil Service Commission will be accepting resumes to fill a Building Administrative Assistant vacancy.  Highly skilled clerical support to the Building division of the Community Development Department. Will be directly responsible for accepting building plans and specifications, ensuring all documentation required is submitted.  Knowledge of building and construction terminology desired. Permit Technician Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.  Must be able to prioritize work, with emphasis on multi-tasking.  Ability to work well with public in disseminating information both over the telephone and in person.  High school diploma required.  After review of resumes, computer testing will be administered including Word, Excel, and Access.

Elmwood, Medina starting May 11, 2011.  Deadline for accepting resumes is Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 4pm.  Starting pay is $16.67/hour.  Pre-employment drug testing and background check (at applicant’s expense) is required.
